You feel it in the air. You cannot deny that there is a something -er -uh- different today. How can I describe the sensation that surrounds us?
Developments are moving at lightning speed.
I just saw a video clip about Uber that they are creating mini helicopters to alleviate the traffic produced by their cars! When in the history of mankind have we experienced such innovations?! And this is only shortly after the invention of the smart watch - and the smart fridge...!!
Truth is being revealed like never before.
Like -er- let's start with our President.....
And how about the recent Florida shooting?
I mean, did you ever dream of hearing in the United States of America - the home to the liberals- about 3000 students fighting for gun control?!?!?!?! And now I'm hearing that the Sheriff of the Florida Police Force is being summoned to questioning in regard to his police officers on the scene. There was only one officer in the building with a gun. He stood there for 4 minutes radioing his comrades about the circumstances. The other 3 just stood outside afraid to enter the building. Meanwhile, people were being shot.... And this is on CNN!
I remember when I was younger - the news channels were so hard to comprehend. The broadcasters were wordy and talking in high vocabulary. I used to ask my father to summarize what they said. And he would tell it to me in one sentence. I remember thinking - Gee- I wish they could just simplify their language.
I understand everything!
No-one sugar coats any news anymore! People are describing the stories exactly as they happen. I don't need an interpreter like I used to.
The truth of the world is starting to unveil....
I remember reading somewhere (I think it was the Rambam but please don't quote me :-)) that before Moshiach the truth of the world will be revealed and it will be a very painful time.
You can ask - why is truth painful? Isn't truth a good thing? Hashem is truth....
So he answers - that truth is definitely a good thing. And the world will be coming to a more complete state. But it will be a change from the past.
AND ALL CHANGE IS HARD.
Change is painful.
Especially for us Jews.
We've gone through so much change in our lives. We've been through so many upheavals. We sometimes feel like just STAYING PUT.
There's a poignant Jewish joke that summarizes it well: "While non-Jews leave a party without saying goodbye, Jews have a tendency to say goodbye and never leave"
Sometimes we have to clean our rooms. You know, it get's messy. And we take care of a drawer here and a paper there. And we hang up one article of clothing...
But we don't really get to the crux of the mess.
And our room never really gets CLEAN.
Like SPARKLING CLEAN.
We may just need to empty out all our contents of our drawers.
And make a BIGGER MESS.
So we see what needs to be cleaned.
Now that the world is moving towards a place of truth, I feel like I'm seeing a bigger mess. So what - that this police force is exposed in Florida? Why do I have to know about all the muck in the world? I'd rather sit in oblivion than have to deal with all the ugly realities of the truth.
Well, by exposing the truth about these police, they will now have a choice a) they can continue sitting on their laurels in their elevated positions and not commit to change their ways. As a result they will be thrown off from these roles of power and the people that replace them will really shoulder the responsibility of their jobs - unlike their predecessors. Or b) they can choose to change their ways and take responsibility for their jobs in the way they are meant to do to begin with.
This will create a nice and clean world that we so badly yearn for.
Sometimes, we need to make a little bit of messes in order to clean up our rooms.
Sometimes, painful negative realities may have to come to the fore in order to get to the truth.
